Do you have a designated room or space in your homeschool? Do you find yourself having a hard time keeping your homeschool room organized and functional? If so today’s guest post from Sean Riggs may help!
Must-Have Essentials for Organizing Your Homeschool Room
Many of us that run homeschools within our compound have in one way or another had it rough when trying to organize the designated rooms. Although it mostly depends on age and grade- level, there are certain must-have essentials to assist you to bring order to the room once operation begins.
The following list represents 7 things you need to invest in to help organize your kid’s space.
Workboxes
Some of us call them old-school, others legacy systems, but I like to call them reliable essentials. Workboxes are critical when organizing homeschool stuff.

Whether you are dealing with folders, papers, binders, or thicker books, these storage essentials are built for this. Each of your kids can be given his or her own labeled workbox, where they are supposed to submit their work or the day. These organizers can then be neatly placed on the table for you to check the day’s assignment.

Backpacks
These portable storage spaces can be organized into color codes with each holding a specific type of items such as files, folder, and other supplies.

Depending on the kind of storage design you wish to go for, you can have the bags on one side of the room. The backpacks can also be used to organize stuff during nature study trips.
Bookshelves
It is important to include bookshelves as one of the essentials.

Fashine DIY Adjustable Bookcase, Bookshelf with 9 Book Shelves, Home Furniture Storage (Blue)

These shelves are best practices since they save the ground space and at the same time offer wall space for holding books and supply boxes. It is basically the place where you can keep the stuff you use on daily basis.
Presentation board
Most people assume this, but having a presentation board is one of the effective ways to organize your kid’s space.
Elmer’s Tri-Fold Premium Foam Display Board, Black, 36×48 InchBAZIC Tri-Fold Corrugated Presentation Board, 36 x 48 Inch
Pacon Corrugated Presentation Board, 48
It is a portable learning center that can be folded and packed once the class is over. Take a case where you use your dining room for organizing homeschool stuff, the room will be tidier without a permanent board fixed on the wall as compared to using a presentation board.
Potato bins
This might sound strange to you, but trust me, these bags are definite saviors when dealing with clutter within the room.

Craft supplies together with CDs and DVDs can be housed inside the potato bin where the supplies are placed at the top while the discs packed at the bottom.
Closed cabinet
A cabinet with doors that can close is quite significant when organizing your homeschool room.

It gives an appearance of order around the room including hiding the disaster in cases when things are not in order inside the cabinet. To help you with the organization, drawers and other partition spaces can be included in the cabinet.
Magazine holders
Magazine holders are probably my favorite when organizing the textbooks, notebooks, and folders.
