One of the best parts of living in the St. Louis area is all of the free attractions, and the best one in this city (in my opinion) is by far the St. Louis Zoo! I’ve been to so many other cities, and their zoo’s don’t even compare and usually you have to pay some kind of an admission fee. For that reason we make it a point to never take advantage of how good we’ve got it here, so we make it a point to visit our zoo at least once a year if not more. While my sisters were visiting a couple of weeks ago, the zoo was one of the main places they wanted to see, so of course we couldn’t say no!
Halfway through we had to take a minute to cool off..even if we weren’t really hot… because MIST FANS! We love mist fans!
Okay can we all take a second to talk about how cute this big ape is?!
Checking out the newest baby monkey! Baby was hiding down in the blankets under the ledge so I couldn’t catch a great picture of it. But the monkey in the picture is one of the proud monkey parents.
Can you tell we’re a big fan of the primates? We probably spent half of our day just watching them all!
Of course no trip to the Saint Louis Zoo would be complete without taking a picture with the infamous Phil the Gorilla statue!
Last but not least, we had to go check out the penguins and puffins. Even though this is the stinkiest part of the zoo (yes, even stinkier than the primates), it’s definitely another one of our favorite parts. My husband even used to call me a puffin as a pet name back when we first started dating. Ha!
Of course I can never get good pictures in the lighting in the Penguin habitat, so I shot this video instead. Video’s are always more fun anyways though, right?
We also visited big cat country where we saw the lions (also known as Simba and Nala to Ally), but couldn’t get a good picture. And of course we couldn’t see the tigers – which is one of my all time favorite animals. We did get to see the new polar bear too, but again, couldn’t get a good picture. Boo! The new exhibit for the polar bear was pretty cool though so if you haven’t checked that out yet you should!
After our visit at the Zoo was over we had to make one last stop at another famous stop in St. Louis: IMOS PIZZA!!
Trust me, it was every bit as good as it looks!
