This week was our first week of school for the 2016-2017 school year. After a very long summer (that didn’t really feel like summer til the end), it felt good to finally feel like we were back to some form of productivity. While I’m struggling to get back into my regular routine of getting up on time (night owls unite!), we surprisingly did very well with staying on schedule!
Last Week in Our Homeschool
We had a great week, and it felt so good knowing that I had everything planned for the entire year! The girls tried to say they weren’t excited, but I knew they were bluffing when I woke up to see this sign:
We took our “first day of school” like we do every year. It’s crazy to compare how much they’ve grown over the years! You can download these free printable first day of school signs that I made here!
We studied Lief Erikson, reviewed some of last years math that we forgot how to do, talked about current events, and reviewed subjects and predicates. (Please excuse the horrible cell phone pictures. The coffee hadn’t set in enough for me to want to get out my real camera).
We also did a lot of coloring while listening to our audio book for this week, “Under Drakes Flag”.
And even drew our own pictures of viking ships!
Lil Sis made this awesome painting of what tree’s look like during the different seasons.
When we had the wiggles? I made them sit in our new “wiggle chair“! Especially on the rainy days. Since we live in a small apartment, it’s not easy to get out our energy when we have rainy days!
We finished off our week with a little bit of “Friday Funday (where we put the curriculum and work books away and learn while having FUN!) and had our first poetry tea time of the year!
What did you learn about in your homeschool last week? Comment below and tell us all about it! If you share any pictures on instagram, feel free to tag @chaoticblisshs or use #mychaoticbliss. I’d love to see what life is like in your homeschool.

We started back to school last week too. I loved getting back to a routine and there’s always something so exciting about pulling out our new books.
