For a while now I’ve been on the hunt for a quality educational website for my girls. By quality, I mean affordable for me, and fun for them. I was recently introduced to Study.com and I can honestly say it fits the criteria of what I have been looking for.

What is Study.com?
Study.com is an educational website for students. It uses short educational videos to help students master subjects and obtain better study skills. The video lessons are taught by great teachers and are fun and engaging for kids.
Some of the features you’ll find at study.com include:
- text transcripts
- quizzes
- practice tests
- personalized study plan
This website is a great online educational resource that will help your middle school and/or homeschool students get better grades and retain more of the information they learn.
CLEP Exam Practice
If your state requires student testing, then you’re probably aware of the CLEP (College Level Examination Program) exam. Study.com is a great resource for students who need help to study for the CLEP exams.
Study.com offers over 30 exams that can help you earn real college credit. When you pass these exams, it shows that you have fully mastered the subject matter.
This program is self paced and takes only a fraction of the time it would take you to complete the course elsewhere. It can also be done at a fraction of the cost.
Why Study.com is a Great Educational Website for Homeschoolers
If you are looking for affordable homeschooling online, study.com is an option to consider. It is a great resource for computer based homeschool curriculum for both middle school and high school students.
Students who take advantage of study.com’s video lessons will not only be able to ace their next test, but also master subjects such as math, english, science, and history.
Homeschoolers can use study.com as their main homeschool curriculum. It can also be used as a supplement by having kids study certain areas where they are struggling. Students can even take courses and earn college credit!
My Thoughts on Study.com
Since Moe will be considered a middle school student next year (what?!), I’ve started looking for online homeschool curriculum for her that she can work on at her own pace. As a work at home mom, I also need a program that she can do independently as much as possible.
All of my girls are very visual learners, so I need a program that will offer fun video courses that will keep them engaged. If the video is dull or dry, they will lose interest and will not retain anything.
After looking into study.com I was impressed with the quality of their video lessons. I was also happy to see the wide range of subjects offered beyond the standard core subjects.
Some of the additional subjects offered are:
- Business
- Psychology
- Humanities
- Spanish
They also include courses that help kids study for their ACT/SAT exams.
Who Would Benefit From Study.com?
This program has so much to offer, that many people could benefit from using it in different circumstances.
If you are a homeschool mom looking for a quality online curriculum, this program can help. Students who are looking to strengthen their study skills or get better grades in school will also benefit. Also, those who are needing help with preparing themselves for the CLEP exam will find this program useful as well.
Many families are looking for online educational websites that are affordable. I would definitely agree that study.com fits this category depending on what you need it for. Some of their options are on the pricier side, but if you can get by with their basic level, I definitely think many can find room for it within their budget.
