In Case You Missed It
This week we spent a lot of time preparing and holding our first yard sale in our new home. I decided to turn the whole ordeal into an educational experience with the girls by allowing them to have a bake sale.
They day before our sale they helped me set up and price items (all while learning what a reasonable price is, what’s sell-able, and why). Then they worked together to bake our favorite homemade chocolate chip cookies (you can find the recipe we use here).
The morning of the sale they got up bright and early with the Hubsterdude and I and sat at their very own table to sell their cookies.
They were responsible for managing the money they earned themselves and had to make sure to give proper change, etc. Hello life skills! They did a great job, and earned enough money for each of them to go pick out a new at the local Five Below (their favorite store).
Overall it was a huge success, and there’s no greater feeling than living life, and knowing my girls are learning strong life skills so I can mark it as school hours at the same time!
As always, make sure you check out last week’s edition of the Homeschool Nook because there were a lot of great posts shared that is sure to bless your homeschool!
