Raise your hand if your kids can’t seem to sit still. You can’t see it, but I’m waving both hands frantically in the air while jumping up and down over here! Moe (age 9) especially cannot seem to sit still for more than five seconds. As someone who suffers from anxiety, I get so irritated with her so easily because the constant wiggling around stresses me out. That was until we discovered Bouncy Bands.

What are Bouncy Bands?
Bouncy Bands are a product developed by a man named Scott Ertl. They were created to help kids not feel trapped while they work at their desks for many hours a day. Instead, they can bounce, stretch their legs, and prop up their feet rather than let them constantly dangle.
The product consists of two support pipes and the bouncy band itself. To install the Bouncy Bands, you simply stretch the loops around the end of the support pipes, and then place the chair or desk legs inside the support pipes.
(Stretching the band took a little bit of muscle but I was able to do it on my own, which means almost anyone can do it. I’m definitely lacking in the upper body strength department!)
Once the Bouncy Bands are installed kids are able to wiggle and bounce as they work. This helps some students concentrate better, and also works out any anxieties they may be experiencing (especially for those who have anxiety over testing).
How We Use Bouncy Bands to Get the Wiggles Out
As I said earlier, I definitely have a wiggle worm on my hands. Anytime she’s answering a question or listening to read aloud time, she’s extremely fidgety.
Often times we have had to have “wiggle breaks” where we all get up and wiggle around like crazy people to try to get them all out of our system. It doesn’t always work though, and sometimes the wiggles creep back in as soon as we sit down to get back to work again.
I installed the bands on a chair and asked Moe to sit in it while we worked on our lessons and during read aloud times. She even took the chair back to the computer desk to use it while she worked at the computer.
Would I Recommend Bouncy Bands?
Yes, yes and even more YES! Bouncy Bands are absolutely fantastic. After installing the bands in Moe’s chair I definitely noticed her concentration greatly improved. She also had a place to use all of that built up energy when she was supposed to be completing her school work.
KK and Lil’ Sis like to use the Bouncy Bands whenever they are feeling extra wiggly as well. It has absolutely helped their focus and productivity as well!
I have also benefited from the use of Bouncy Bands because they’re not driving me up the wall by bouncing all over the place. They simply bounce on the bands instead, which doesn’t bother me at all! It has helped eliminate many struggles between myself and the kids, and my anxiety and irritation is at an all time low during the day.
The best part of all is that the Bouncy Bands are quiet! They don’t create annoying noises while in use which surprised me. I originally thought they would cause a noise that would stress me more than the wiggling would. Surprisingly – they don’t!
Where to Buy Bouncy Bands
Bouncy Bands are very affordable and can be purchased for desks or chairs. They even have a longer size band for wider desks. If your bouncy band breaks or needs to be replaced, you can buy replacement bands for a low price as well.
