A couple of months ago I started this blog, not because I needed another business venture (I already have a successful enough business, which you can find here), but because I wanted to inspire people. I didn’t want to be another blogger that made people feel like they were more put together than someone else. Instead I wanted others to know that they are not alone in their struggles, whatever they may be!
Honestly, there are just way too many “Pinterest Moms” out there who, frankly, are just not being real. They share their perfect projects using their perfect pictures on their perfect blogs in their perfect homes, and really that just makes me want to gag a little sometimes. Because let’s be honest…
That’s not always real life!
Some of these big name moms who have perfect blogs with millions of followers and think they’re the next Kardashians of the blog world (puh-lease) are NOT doing it all on their own. They have an army of people behind them writing for them, creating their freebies, posting on their social media pages for them, and paying others to take their staged photo’s for them. Don’t get me wrong, I love to follow some of these blogs because they have awesome ideas, and I also even use some of these same programs for my own blog because it makes life easier. I’m just no longer going to allow myself to feel like I have to be doing exactly what they’re doing just to feel like I’m “legit”. What I’m doing in my own homeschool and on my own blog is working just fine, and I need to stick with what I was originally inspired to do!
Come and be a fly on the wall in my homeschool
That being said, I’m going to start inviting you all into my home via Periscope at random times of the day (whenever life lets me) for a true fly on the wall experience! Why am I doing this? I’ve found myself on so many occasions wishing that I could get a sneak peak into other homeschool’s and see what they do on a daily basis. I wanted to see their schedule, what they’re learning about, and HOW they are doing it. I also know that I’m not alone and have heard others express this wish as well. Sometimes I think its so inspiring to just watch others live their normal lives (which might be why I’m a “reality” tv junkie.. ha!)! So I figured, why not give my followers exactly that? Let’s give it a try!
Starting on Monday I’m going to set my phone up on the tripod, begin my broadcast, and then go teach my children! When my lesson is done, I’ll pop back on and take questions and comments from anyone who stuck around long enough to chat about it.
It may be a stupid idea. I may end up with trolls and backlash, or maybe, just maybe, I’ll inspire someone! I look at it this way – if I can help even just one person, then it was a success and I’m okay with that! I wont be hiding anything, it will be real, raw, and frankly I’m kind of scared about it. But again, I truly think it might help someone and that’s what this blog is about.
What in the world is Periscope?
If you have no idea what periscope is, check out my “411 on ‘Scoping” page where I explain more about it in a little more detail. If you already have Periscope, please follow me @chaoticblisshs so you can catch my scopes whenever I go live!
Check out the ‘scope I did earlier on this exact topic:
So please, follow me so you can get your fly on the wall experience, and share this with your other homeschool friends as well! I’ll see you then!

Yeah I’m not sure if I’m really brave enough either but I guess I’ll find out! lol!
It’s so true, real life would be art supplies all over the table, breakfast dishes still not put away, still in pi’s, my daughter’s hair not yet done. Photos for my blog are always much more polished and not quite as realistic, dressed in real clothes with hair done, art supplies all neatly lined up, etc, plus then there’s always photoshop to clean up any spots missed before taking photo. There are even moments when my whole living room could be a disaster, the floor covered in LEGO’s, blocks, etc. All I need is a small area of clean floor to take a good photo, so LEGO’s get pushed aside, camera zooms in on clean patch of floor and voila, picture perfect 🙂
One of these days I’m going to figure out Periscope, not quite there yet tho. I wish you success in your idea. 🙂

Sounds just like me!! Sometimes I hate that people feel the need to be so polished. Not that being polished is a bad thing at all! It’s just that it seems these days we have to “look” like we’ve got it all together or else someone is going to judge us for it, and that makes me SAD! I sincerely hope by my transparency that other moms will realize that its okay! We’re all a hot mess most days!! haha! Thank you so much for your comment!
Oh my you gals are hilarious and I totally get you! I do the push the mess out of the way for a photo thing all the time. And then I’m like, oh gee are those dirty spots on my floor? GASP! But I’ve got a screaming baby I’m bouncing on my hip and I’m trying to type and upload photos from my camera to get my post finished up and you know cleaning up that photo (or the floor for that matter) is just not a viable option. I am poster child for hot mess but you know we’re getting it done and laughing and loving along the way. My photos are not all beautiful and Pinterest worthy, but they are *real*. Jenn I hope I can catch one of your scopes someday. I had thought about wearing a Go Pro for an entire day and then creating a video of it sped up really fast as an example of my typical day. Because you’re right, it would be awesome to get a glimpse into other homeschoolers’ worlds!

That’s such a great idea! I swear, sometimes the outside world just has no idea what really goes on in our world! haha! I hope you get to catch one of my scopes too! 😉 Thanks for commenting ladies. I needed the laugh tonight!
I love the idea of being a fly on the wall. So perfect! How I have wished I could have done that when I first started homeschooling. It would have given me some great ideas and helped me realized I am not alone. Thanks for stepping out of your comfort zone to do this! You can help many people this way. 🙂
