Last week was crazy. I sound like a broken record don’t I? Well, it’s true. It was crazy. Not necessarily a bad kind of crazy, but just – crazy. I think I made my point.
I couldn’t stay on track with anything! We barely got our lessons done (actually, geography and science got conveniently pushed up til this week), but despite all of the chaos, we still somehow managed to stay productive.
Last Week in Our Homeschool
On Tuesday we took a trip to the local library where we spent time reading out loud to Chip the dog. I’m not sure who enjoyed this experience more: me (read aloud practice time win!), the girls (puppies!), or Chip (belly rubs!).
I also shared about how we like to make the most out of our library trips (complete with free scavenger hunt printable) so be sure to check that out.
Saturday the older girls participated in another service project for their American Heritage Girls troop. Every year the troop gathers together to make items for Operation Christmas Child. Then they spend another day packing as many shoe boxes as possible to send to children in need. This year they packed over 400 boxes in two hours. I’m so proud of this amazing troop!
Unfortunately, I was unable to join in this year sadly because Lil’ Sis came down with a little 24-hour stomach bug. We spent the day snuggling in our jammies. Does anyone else have a 5-year-old who speaks in only “whine” when they are sick?
What was life like in your homeschool last week?

Do You Love Lapbooks?
I’m becoming a lapbook junkie! My kids love having a fun project to put together. I love that I can teach them a variety of subjects in a fun way that isn’t too messy and cluttered! That is why I love A Journey Through Learning’s lapbooks so much!
I teach my kids in bite-size lessons that are perfect for their limited attention span, and it saves my nerves because it isn’t too messy! It’s the perfect amount of hands-on work for all of us!
Check out their lapbooks by clicking on the banner below. You’ll be so glad that you did!
(Plus, you’ll get a FREE lapbook! It’s a win-win!)

Operation Christmas Child is one of our favorite programs to support! Our week last week was crazy, too – hopefully we’ll all have a calmer one this go-around!

WOW! 400 boxes in 2 hours! Our church is hoping to make a goal of 300 shoeboxes this year. Our family loves OCC and has been going to a Processing Center since our oldest turned 13. Great way to serve as a family (my next two kids are counting the year until they turn 13 and can join). Thankfully, we have a neighboring church that is a collection site and we can assist there next week during National Collection Week.
